Overseeding is the process of implanting grass seed just under the surface of the ground and sealing the holes to ensure the seed germinates and grows rapidly. This is performed using specialist grass seed drills called overseeders. The benefits for existing turf areas are to replenish worn high use areas by the introduction of new cultivars, to improve lawn cover and to reduce moss and weed invasion.
Overseeding forms part of the sports surface construction process or it can be used on existing turf areas requiring renovation. It is suitable for bowling greens, golf greens, football and rugby pitches, cricket wickets and outfields. ARC Ground Care have a variety of seeding machines:
