Often primary drainage systems are insufficient to disperse all surface water and in these cases secondary surface drainage can also be installed.  These drains are installed over the top of the primary drainage system.  They aid removal of the surface water, carrying it down to the primary drains and away.

Secondary drainage consists of sand slitting or banding and is carried out using specialist machinery with low ground pressure tyres to protect the existing playing surface.

An efficient drainage system will enhance the life and quality of your playing surface - providing it is subject to a regular maintenance programme.  It is far more cost effective than dealing with water logging and soil compaction once they are established.
